Where these answers lead
Youth sticks
Short, light and soft enough for a young player to flex — usually a 20 to 40 flex. Level and shooting style matter far less than length at this stage, so buy for fit and replace as they grow.

A 40 to 52 flex on a shorter shaft with a smaller blade. If they are close to the top of the height range, size up rather than cutting a junior stick down — trimming stiffens it by about 5 flex per inch.
Shop junior sticksIntermediate sticks
A 55 to 70 flex on a slightly thinner shaft than senior — the right step for a growing player who can already load a stick but is not yet strong enough for a senior flex.

Durable builds at a price that survives beer league. Start around half your body weight in flex, and go softer if most of your shots are wrist shots.
Shop recreational sticksSenior performance sticks
Mid-tier builds that carry most of the top-end technology at a fraction of the weight penalty. A good place to land if you play regularly but are not chasing the last 20 grams.
Shop performance sticksPerformance sticks, quick-release taper
A low kick point loads and releases in one motion, which is what you want off the rush and in traffic. Expect a thinner shaft and a stiffer lower section.
Shop quick-release sticksPerformance sticks, power taper
A mid kick point stores more energy through a longer load, which suits slap shots and one-timers from the point.
Shop power sticksElite senior sticks
The lightest layups each brand makes, with the most consistent flex profiles. Worth it if you play often enough to feel the difference — and if you can load the flex you have chosen.
