Things to consider
- Head circumference measured at the hat line
- Certification for your league
- Cage, visor or full shield
Measure the circumference of your head about an inch above your eyebrows, keeping the tape level all the way around.
The helmet should sit one finger-width above your eyebrows and should not shift when you shake your head with the chin strap fastened. Most helmets adjust within their size range, so if you fall between two sizes, take the smaller one and open it up.
A well-fitted entry-level helmet protects you better than a poorly fitted premium one.

How do I know what size hockey helmet I need?
Measure the circumference of your head at the hat line, about one inch above your eyebrows, then match that number to the helmet's size chart. Certification and fit both matter, so try the helmet on with the cage you plan to use.
How should a hockey helmet fit?
The helmet should grip evenly with the chin cup centred and no pressure points. It should not rock forward and back or slide when you shake your head.
