Size guide
Bend your knee to 90 degrees and measure in inches from the centre of your kneecap to the top of your skate boot. How you round that number depends on how you wear the pad.
| Shin guard size | Knee-to-boot measurement | Typical height |
|---|---|---|
| 8" – 10" | 8" – 10" | 3'0" – 4'0" |
| 11" – 12" | 11" – 12" | 4'0" – 4'6" |
| 13" – 14" | 13" – 14" | 4'6" – 5'2" |
| 15" – 16" | 15" – 16" | 5'2" – 5'10" |
| 17" – 18" | 17" – 18" | 5'10" – 6'3" |
| 19" and up | 19" and up | 6'3" and up |
Over the skate tongue: round your measurement up to the next whole inch. The pad sits on top of the tongue, so a slightly longer pad adds protection without costing mobility — this is also the method to use when you want growth room.
Under the skate tongue: round your measurement down. The pad cannot sit flush against the boot, so a shorter pad is correct.
If your kneecap does not land in the centre of the pad's knee cup, the pad is the wrong length regardless of what the chart says.
